Janelle comes to the Ed Trust with a background that includes working in the classroom and conducting research in a school district, as well as working as a research assistant at the American Institutes for Research. She has a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in economics from Temple University, as well as master’s in urban education policy from Brown University. She completed a year-long internship in the Brockton Public Schools, where she co-designed and implemented a research project evaluating elementary school teachers’ implementation of the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol model for English Language Learners. She conducted a semester-long study in Salvador, Brazil which looked at educational inequalities. She also worked as a DC Teaching Fellow in a fifth-grade self-contained classroom.
