Paul Ruiz
A co-founder of The Education Trust, Paul has devoted more than 35 years of professional work to the educational success of all students, focusing specifically on improving achievement and closing the Latino and African-American achievement gap. A former school principal and central office administrator, he was selected Educator of the Year by the Michigan Department of Education. He served as chief academic officer for the District of Columbia Public Schools and senior director of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Residing in San Antonio, Paul works with local education and civic leaders in the Southwest to advance the work of Ed Trust. A graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Paul holds a master’s from Central Michigan University and a doctorate from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
