A New Model for Leadership: Establishing a Culture for School Improvement

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

This session introduces a new model for school leadership in which a small group of school-community leaders facilitates a vision-based, data-driven, and systemic school improvement process. Decision making is shared with all administrators, all teachers, all students, parents, business representatives, and community members. School and community leaders use vision to bring diverse stakeholders to a common purpose: creative dissatisfaction with the status quo and energy for change through disaggregated achievement data, establishing a system of collegiality in which tough questions are asked, and embracing resistance. Session attendees will participate in school improvement activities and receive handouts.
