Federal Policy and Legislation Update

This session will look at federal legislation that focuses on education equity and the achievement gap. Participants will discuss ways in which federal policy could more effectively address the achievement gaps in public education. Particular focus will be placed on two major reauthorizations Congress is scheduled to address in 2005: The Higher Education Act and the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act. The session will also review implementation and enforcement activities related to Title I/No Child Left Behind.
