Gearing up for College with AVID

High schools in 45 states get AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) to prepare students for higher ed. Based in San Diego, the AVID Center serves some 400,000 students in roughly 4,500 schools in 16 countries and territories. The program seeks to turn young people into active learners and critical thinkers to boost their chances for college entry and success. Learn about the program’s features: a site team comprising subject-area teachers, parents, tutors, and the AVID coordinator; a college-preparatory elective course; rigorous curriculum; and trained college tutors.
