Session 10: In Their Own Words: First-Generation Urban Students' Perceptions of Their Preparation for College
Printer-friendly versionThis presentation highlights the results of a recent qualitative study that explored the perceptions and attitudes of first-generation college students who attended urban schools regarding their preparation for postsecondary education. The presentation focuses on the factors students said influenced their decision to pursue postsecondary education and the experiences that contributed to their success. Presenters will offer school counselors and other education professionals specific recommendations to ensure that first-generation students are prepared for college.
