Session 18: African-American Males in Special Education: Their Attitudes and Perceptions Toward High School Counselors and School Counseling Services
Learn the results of a recent qualitative study focusing on African-American males in special education and their attitudes and experiences with school counselors. Three themes emerged from the study: the perceived role of school counselors, actual experiences with school counselors, and students’ comfort levels with school counselors. TSC-informed strategies based on the data will be discussed. (Area A: Policy and Practice)
