Session 23. Transformed Views of the ASCA Performance Standards

The presenters will discuss a new research study that investigated school counselors’ attitudes toward the ASCA School Counselor Performance Standards. Three distinct viewpoints emerged from this study, one of which reflected elements of the Transforming School Counseling Initiative. This interactive presentation reports on the findings and implications of this study. Participants will have an opportunity to sort the ASCA performance standards using the research instrument in order to understand how their viewpoints correlate with the research results. Based on the research results, the presenters will lead a discussion of implications and recommendations for preparing transformed school counselors.
