Session 36: What Does it Really Mean to Lead for Instructional Improvement?
Closing the achievement gap depends on our ability to improve the quality of instruction. District leaders must take an active role in leading for instructional improvement. This presentation will focus on the results of a unique university/school district partnership where both district and building leaders receive intensive support in their work to: (1) define the instructional practices, structures, and routines conducive to powerful student learning and to adult professional development; (2) hone their leadership practices and routines to support the development of such practices across the district.
