Session 37: Academic Achievement of All Students through Quality Teacher Preparation: The Ohio Study

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Collaboration between institutions is difficult. When research is done collaboratively by researchers at multiple institutions, using both qualitative and quantitative methods, and when the results will impact all of a state’s teacher preparation programs, the difficulty level increases dramatically. Nevertheless, the political and educational climate supports this research, because it attempts to improve learning for all students by linking effective teaching to effective teacher preparation. The presenters will report on the research design and preliminary findings of this unique partnership among Ohio’s 50 teacher preparation institutions.

Presenters:
Lawrence Johnson, Dean, College of Education, Human Services & Criminal Justice, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH
Tom Lasley, Dean, School of Education and Allied Professions, University of Dayton, Dayton, OH
