Session 40: A Tool for Examining Course Rigor

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

To meet the challenge of preparing all students to succeed in first-year college courses, ACT has developed rigorous course objectives for English, math, and science. The objectives were derived from the materials submitted by the teachers who participated in a collaborative ACT-Education Trust study. Participants will be provided with data from a national survey ACT conducted to determine the degree to which these course objectives were present in high school curricula. Participants will also be provided with information pertaining to ACT’s Course Analysis for Rigor and Success, an online service that allows teachers to compare their curriculum to ACT’s objectives.
