Session 47: ¡Arriba, Arriba! Boosting Student Achievement through Systems Thinking
This presentation highlights a professional learning community’s resolve to increase the academic achievement for its economically disadvantaged K-12 students. These English language learners live near the Arizona/Mexico border. Presenters analyze the interdependent factors of teacher induction, mentoring, staff development and teacher evaluation for the purpose of increasing student achievement as measured by district and state assessments. Participants will learn specific strategies for developing a systems thinking mental model in order to solve complex issues.
