Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Want to boost academic achievement for low-income kids, who tend to tread water or lag behind peers in summer months? The Higher Achievement Program, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, has ideas. Find out about its Summer Academy, which moves beyond the usual remedial work to offer an advanced curriculum. It also trains its teachers to balance content and youth development. At this session, learn research-based methods for effective teaching, experience an academy lesson, study examples from case studies and videos, and team up with others to design your own summer school.
