Updraft/Downdraft: Using Artifacts to Analyze Opportunities to Teach and Learn in the Secondary School
Presenters:

What makes teaching possible? What makes learning possible? Through a process of analysis that uses common artifacts – data, schedules, teacher loads, curriculum guides, assignments, and transcripts – schools can better understand and monitor the dynamics that either create barriers or allow for students to receive the quality experiences that provide them with the opportunities to learn and progress. Schools that have such data are also enabled to do something about it. In this era of accountability, understanding the thinking and using the tools that allow for effective decision-making is necessary if schools are to meet the challenge of improving student achievement.
