No Gaps Here

Probe college-graduation rates nationwide, and amid widespread gaps you’ll find a few stirring success stories. Eleven institutions noted in two new Ed Trust reports have no gaps in the percentages of minority and white students they graduate:
George Mason University (Virginia)
Georgia State University
Loyola Marymount University (California)
Loyola University of New Orleans
Stony Brook University (New York)
State University of New York at Purchase
Towson University (Maryland)
University of California, Riverside
University of Miami (Florida)
University of North Carolina at Charlotte
University of Tampa (Florida)
Each has its own recipe for student success, but common ingredients include strong leadership on equity, use of leading indicators to track performance, and robust supports for struggling students. Some institutions aspire to stretch goals for retention and graduation rates and other colleges track student data, create learning communities, counsel students, and link them to support services.
