LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE: JOIN US IN NOVEMBER!
When we visit high-performing, high-poverty schools, we are struck by how much they sweat the small stuff. For the educators in these schools, the rationale is clear: When your goal is to get not some kids but all kids to high levels of achievement, schools cannot leave anything to chance.
On Nov. 3-5, educators and social justice activists from around the country will gather in Washington, D.C. to learn more about what it looks like when schools leave nothing to chance. How do leaders get buy-in for educating all kids well? How do these schools accelerate students who enter behind while keeping the high achievers challenged? How do they use data? What role do parents play?
Beyond asking fast-improving schools to identify what works, we’ll also address fast-moving developments on the policy front. How are lawmakers likely to retool the Elementary and Secondary Education Act? Why are states changing their teacher policies, and what will these changes mean for poor children and children of color? How will proposed cuts to the Pell Grant Program affect the college options of low-income children?
And, most important, how can all of us — educators, activists, foundations, and researchers — work together to put gap closing at the heart of where we are going as a nation?
Come join this vibrant and growing community of equity-minded folks for the best meeting of the year: The Education Trust’s National Conference on Closing the Achievement Gap.
- Learn practical strategies that you can use back home.
- Get cutting-edge information about changes on the policy front.
- Meet and connect with gap-closers from around the country.
- Replenish your spirit and fortify yourself for the hard work ahead.
Hope to see you there.
